FinanceCalc

Privacy Policy

The short version: our calculators run entirely in your browser, and we collect no personal information about you.

Last updated: September 8, 2026

1. Overview

FinanceCalc (financesia.net) publishes free personal-finance calculators: rent vs buy, refinance break-even, home affordability, student loan refinancing, and Social Security claiming age. This policy explains what information is (and isn't) collected, how advertising works on the site, and the choices and rights you have, including under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the UK GDPR, and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA).

2. Information We Collect

We collect no personal information from you directly. The site has no accounts, no signup, no contact forms, no email collection, and no comment sections.

All calculator inputs stay in your browser. When you enter a home price, interest rate, salary, or any other figure, the calculation runs locally on your device. Nothing you type is transmitted to our servers, stored, or read by us. Closing or refreshing the page discards your inputs (your browser may retain them only in its own form-history if you choose).

3. Advertising Cookies (Google AdSense)

The site is funded by advertising served through Google AdSense. Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies — including the DoubleClick cookie on Google's domains — to serve ads based on your visits to this site and other sites across the Internet. This enables personalized (interest-based) advertising.

Google's use of advertising cookies is governed by Google's own privacy policy and advertising policies, and Google acts as the data controller for the ad personalization data it processes. If you would like to review Google's privacy practices, see https://policies.google.com/privacy.

4. Your Choices About Advertising

You can control or opt out of personalized advertising:

Opting out of personalized advertising does not remove ads; you will simply see non-personalized (contextual) ads instead.

5. European Visitors (GDPR / UK GDPR)

If you are located in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we and our advertising partners seek your consent before setting advertising cookies or processing your data for personalized ads, in line with Google's EU user consent policy. You can withdraw consent at any time through the cookie/consent controls on the site (for example, by switching to non-personalized ads), and withdrawing consent will not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before withdrawal.

Because we collect no personal data of our own, processing is limited to what Google's advertising technology performs on your device; Google is the relevant controller for that processing. We have a legitimate interest in keeping the site free to use, funded by advertising, under Article 6(1)(f) GDPR and Article 6(1)(a) GDPR where consent is required for cookies.

6. Analytics

We do not currently run website analytics or behavioral tracking scripts. If that changes, this policy will be updated to describe what is collected and how to opt out.

7. Third-Party Links and Affiliate Disclosure

Some pages link to external sites — for example, lenders, rate comparison pages, and Social Security's official site. Where links are affiliate or sponsored (such as mortgage rate comparison links), we may earn a commission at no additional cost to you, and such links are marked accordingly. Those external sites have their own privacy policies, and we are not responsible for their practices.

8. Children's Privacy

FinanceCalc is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us using the details below and we will ensure it is removed.

9. Data Storage and Security

Because we collect no personal information and store no user data on our servers, there is no personal data for us to secure, retain, or transfer. Where third parties (such as Google) process data in connection with advertising, their own security and retention policies apply.

10. Your Privacy Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights regarding personal data, including rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or port it, to object to processing, and to withdraw consent. Under the CCPA, California residents also have the right to know what personal information is collected and to request deletion. To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details in Section 12. Because we hold no personal data of our own, most requests will simply confirm that no personal information is held.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time (for example, if we add analytics or a new advertising partner). Changes will be posted on this page with a revised "Last updated" date, and the effective date will always appear at the top.
